KRM Clients Sell Handcrafted Pote Mala Necklaces Heine Brothers Coffee June 2010
Handcrafted Pote Mala necklaces, made by KRM clients, can be purchased at the Heine Brother Coffee locations at Gardiner Lane, Bardstown Road & Eastern Parkway, and Frankfort Avenue. For examples of some of the necklaces for sale, please see our Photo Gallery under the "Features" tab.
Pote Mala are necklaces traditionally worn by married women in Nepal. The necklaces are a symbol of respect and love, primarily given by the husband's family. Each necklace is completely unique in design and is crafted by hand using high quality glass beads. These necklaces are crafted locally in Louisville by Bhutanese refugees. The purchase of a necklace directly supports the continuation of the artist's traditional craft while allowing her to supplement her family's income.

Louisville Community Partnerships in August North End Cafe July 19, 2009
North End Cafe has instituted a Community Service Program (see their website for details). During the month of August, North End Cafe is urging members of the community to donate back-to-school goods to several charities, including KRM. In return for their generosity, each guest to donate will receive a coupon redeemable for a free dessert at North End Cafe!

KRM Awarded Housing Grant Metro Louisville July 2009
Kentucky Refugee Ministries is pleased to announce that Louisville Metro Housing and Family Services has approved HUD funding through a Community Development Block Grant. This funding will allow KRM to assist clients with a continuum of services that will address ongoing housing, employment and other case management needs in order to prepare them for employment and self-sufficiency.
