KRM's 20/20 Vision

KRM Has
 20/20 Vision
Celebrating 20 Years
of Service to Refugees

Dear Friends,

In 1990 Donna Craig and Rev. Jim Chatham established Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) as an outreach mission of Highland Presbyterian Church.  That year 25 individuals were resettled through the vision and commitment of these two people and KRM was born.  Over the 18 years I have worked at KRM we have taken bold steps to support refugees by developing comprehensive programs and building strong partnerships in the community with faith based organizations, businesses and individuals.  Personally, it has been a labor of love due in large measure to the incredibly dedicated staff and volunteers and the spirit of those we serve.  These people have been inspirational to the lives of KRM staff, board, volunteers and those who partner with us to give refugees a new beginning in our communities.

This year marks the beginning of KRM’s 20th year of resettlement services.   KRM has assisted more than 5,000 individuals from over 30 countries in their search for safety and a new beginning in Louisville, Lexington, and surrounding communities.  Through generous community grants, faith based sponsorships, corporate and individual donations and volunteer service, KRM has been able to develop its programs for ALL those we serve – youth and elderly programming, immigration services, special medical programs and programs for moms and the youngest refugees who arrive in our communities. As we strive to understand new cultures, promote understanding within our communities, and work to assist individuals in their dreams of becoming self-sufficient and contributing members to our community, we continuously face new challenges of program sustainability.

KRM has worked alongside many of you, our dedicated volunteers and friends, to encourage hope in those who have lost everything but their hope.
In these challenging economic times our job must remain steadfast - to welcome those in need of safety and to extend to them a hospitable and supportive hand.  Despite the fact that the recession has had a negative impact on employment possibilities for newcomers, we remain determined and optimistic that with a little more time, our clients will succeed..

Today I have 2 easy things to ask of you as we enter our 20th year because we’re not finished with our mission:

1.        Click on the "Donate Now" button and make a gift to honor our 20 years of service.

A gift of $20 would help a family in a food crisis.
A gift of $200 would help with emergency rent assistance.
A gift of $2,000 would help KRM build and sustain its comprehensive resettlement programs.

2.    Forward this message to 20 friends, colleagues or family who share this mission to assist others in the same

      way.

How privileged we are to be partners with you in this amazing work  The Board, staff, and refugees at KRM thank you for joining us in supporting programs that encourage hope in our newest neighbors.

Sincerely,

Carol Young
Executive Director
